Levende Talen is committed to the promotion and development of language education in the (Caribbean) Netherlands. Levende Talen was founded in 1911 and is the oldest professional association of language teachers in the Netherlands.

The Papiamento section represents the interests of Papiamentu teachers in the broad sense in all parts of the Kingdom and works to increase the vitality of Papiamento in the Netherlands. Although their platform is situated in The Netherlands they use technology to promote and raise awareness.

In this context, the Papiamento section organized on Saturday 7 March: 'Pasa palabra’. In connection with UNESCO's International Day of the Mother Tongue Day, this event focused on honoring Papiamento as mother tongue of the Caribbean islands in the Dutch kingdom.
